Ceramic braces use ceramic brackets instead of metal brackets. They also have archwire secured to brackets with elastic ties or metal bands. Better cosmetic appeal as ceramic is similar to teeth in appearance.
Self-ligating braces have an in-built mechanism in the metal brackets to hold the archwire in place. It’s easier to clean and causes less discomfort as there are no elastic ties or metal wires.
